Gary is the Sgt at Arms of Det. 896.
He was in the Marine Corps from 1964-1970 and in PLT 348 during boot camp and graduated from Parris Island, South Carolina. He was the house mouse and promoted to PFC right out of boot camp. Was with 2/1 Marines out of Camp Pendleton, California. Also was with India Company with 3/3 Marines at Camp Swab in Okinawa, Japan. Conducted Guerrilla warfare NTA and was in Vietnam conducting combat operations. Was with 1/1 BN Marines in Danang, Vietnam.
Operations involved in were Operation Starlight, Operation Piranha, Operation Golden Fleece.
Decorations and Awards : Purple Heart, Combat Action, President Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense, Armed Forces Expeditionary, Vietnam Service /3 stars, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, RVN Civil Action Unit Citation, and Vietnam Campaign. Rifle Expert Badge and Pistol Sharpshooter Badge.
Duties of the Sgt at Arms:
The Sgt at Arms primary duty is to preserve order at all meetings and will ensure that all members present, present their membership cards showing that they are members in good standing. The Sgt at Arms shall participate in the opening and closing ceremonies as the Ritual describes. The Sgt at Arms shall escort guests to the podium when directed to do so.
